Fashion

Fashion studies is first offered in Year 10. Students can choose to study one semester, or alternately a full year in Year 10. 

It is a course which counts towards a students ATAR. It is a course with a focus towards students going into Tertiary Studies: be it either TAFE, University or the workplace in the Fashion and retail industry. Marketing is a significant component of the course. Students can choose to select both Spplied  and General Art as well as Fashion as the subjects all compliment each other. 

Special features  

The Visual Art Department is proactive in encouraging students to enter their work into state and national competitions. This includes the Queensland Creative Generation Senior Art Awards, and the Australian Wool Cooperation Wool 4 Skool competition. Noosa District State High School Art students have experienced success at all levels of competition, with students in recent years having their work displayed in GOMA, as well as student work being purchased by the University of the Sunshine Coast for the University Art Collection. The Senior Art Show over the last few years has been at the Cooroy Butter Factory, a public art gallery.

Excursion

Each year all students studying Fashion may visit retail outlets and Fashion Week in Brisbane as part of their course. 

There is also the opportunity for students studying any of the Art subjects at Noosa District SHS to be part of the school’s overseas tours. In 2014 students visited the Louvre, as part of a trip to France.

Creative Industry graduates are sought out in the workplace due to the collaborative learning complex higher order thinking skills which are embedded in the Fashion courses.
