Aquatic Practices is an Applied subject which is vocationally oriented subject, which allows students to participate in activities inside and outside the classroom.
Aquatic Practices provides opportunities for students to explore, experience, and learn practical skills and knowledge valued in the workplace and other marine settings. Boating skills, ecosystem investigation with an aquarium, and snorkeling tourism are investigated in Year 11. Oceanography, dangerous marine creatures, recreational fishing with rod building and sustainable marine food sources are the course content in Year 12. Students also have the opportunity to complete a 1st aid certificate which can contribute to QCE points.
It is assumed that students have prior knowledge of the P–10 Australian Curriculum: Science to year 10. The subject can earn up to 4 QCE points and contributes to an ATAR.
