Issa Schultz - Quiz Master, Television personality (2001)
Issa is best known as a TV Show Host and quiz personality who first became widely known as a “Chaser” on The Chase Australia, where he is nicknamed "The Supernerd".  In addition to his current role on The Chase Australia, Schultz is also five-time winner of the Australian Quizzing Championships (2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017) and has held the Pairs title since 2012. He also appeared on The Rich List, where he won $200,000 in 2009, as well as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and The Einstein Factor. In 2017, Schultz also appeared as a celebrity contestant on Hell's Kitchen Australia.

Dr Elke Hacker - Postdoctoral Research Fellow QUT specializing in the molecular pathways that lead to melanoma development.(1998)
Elke's research focusses on prevention of skin cancer and assessing the value of new technology to reduce the burden of this disease. Technology such as personal UV detectors, sunscreen indicator patches, software Apps as well as novel therapeutic agents including DNA repair lotions are put through their paces by Dr Hacker.

Professor Jeanine YoungProfessor of Nursing and Midwifery (UniSC) (1984)
Professor Jeanine Young is a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and Neonatal Nurse. She is the current Academic Lead (Research) for the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine. She has worked in Australia and the United Kingdom in neonatal intensive care, paediatrics and community child health. Jeanine has a special interest in infant care practices; in particular breastfeeding and parent-infant bed-sharing, which formed the basis of her doctoral studies. Jeanine has established a research program to investigate Queensland’s infant mortality rate, with a focus on evidence-based strategies and educational resources to assist health professionals in delivering Safe Sleeping messages to families with young infants and to reduce Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander infant mortality.

Amanda Stevens - Author, Speaker, former Young Business Woman of the Year (1991)
Amanda Stevens is one of Australia's most in-demand speakers on sales, and a business improvement consultant who is passionate, excited and curious about marketing, consumer psychology, business and building businesses, gender psychology, customer service and the future of consumers. Amanda is also a best-selling author and entrepreneur and for over 15 years ran a multi-million dollar marketing consultancy before selling it to a global recruitment firm in 2011. She has spoken and consulted extensively throughout Australia, Asia and the United States.

 

Cultural

 
Gregg DreiseAuthor, Illustrator, Teacher (1990) 
Gregg is an award-winning author, who loves music, art, sport, culture and family. He is very proud of his Kamilaroi and Euahlayi heritage. The Kamilaroi and Euahlayi peoples’ lands extend from south-west Queensland into north-west New South Wales. Culture, music and storytelling have run through his family’s blood since time began. Gregg is a talented storyteller who uses didgeridoos, guitars, laughter and high-energy performances to pass on culture, unity and wisdom through his educational talks. He is on a journey to get right around Australia to share his stories and learn more about the ancient and diverse histories and cultures of this beautiful country. He is fully aware that all of our cultural roots help strengthen the assortment of unique and proud Australians that we all become.

Steven RookeActor (1996)
Steven Rooke completed a Fine Arts degree at the Queensland University of Technology before landing guest appearances on shows such as All Saints and Home and Away, and later having regular appearances on Always Greener. Mr Rooke also appeared in the films Blurred, Footy Legends and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and acted in more than 350 individual performances on 50 different stages around Australia.

Zane HackerAuthor, Chef (2001)
In his early 20s, Zane finished his chef's apprenticeship and he worked as an Antarctic chef at Mawson Station for 14 months. Seven years later, Zane launched a cross-genre coffee-table book - Antarctic Sundays. The book is a creative blend of travel, cooking and photography.

Kate O'Neill - Film Writer and Producer (2011)
Kate completed a Bachelor Fine Arts (Drama) at QUT,  before moving to Los Angelos  in 2020 where she is she is now a Film writer, producer, actor and manages an Acting School. Kate recently made her mark in what is the cinema city of the world where she wrote and produced the short film, The Hangman (2022).  This short film  won Kate a best actor award as well as best film at the Los Angeles Fringe Film Festival.  

Civic

 
Oz BayldonHumanitarian (1989)
Oz is a world record holder for a number of unique gigs, like the highest concert on land which happened in Nepal, the longest performance down the Amazon River in South America, and the craziest gig of a performance on top of a hot air balloon.
He has been a musician and an event and venue manager for over 20 years, most of that time in London. During a trip to Nepal he had a life-changing moment when he met a group of local abused children and it was then that he started doing humanitarian work to support young disadvantaged children all over the world.

Inspector Peter Flanders - Road Policing Command (1982)
Inspector Flanders has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment during his career within the QPS. He has a distinguished uniformed policing career which has culminated in his present position as Operations Manager, Road Policing Command. He is proficient in all aspects of uniform policing, however it is his contribution to road policing and, in particular, motor cycle policing and safety that he has excelled. In this area he is recognised for his contribution, leadership and excellence in organisational improvement, policy development and change management through the development and implementation of an enhanced motor cycle capability within the QPS that delivers road safety benefits.

Industry

 

Tim ArnoldTunnel Construction Mechanical Supervisor (2003)​

Tim is a Mechanical Fitter by trade and has focused his career on Assembling and Maintaining giant Tunnel Boring Machines for Road and Rail Projects. He completed a school-based traineeship in Noosaville before moving to an apprenticeship working at various factories around the Cooloola Region. He moved to Brisbane for a project in his early 20's which opened the door to the international Tunnelling industry. Tim has worked and travelled around the world in many countries including Mexico, China, Canada and Singapore (just to name a few). Tim has now moved into management and is currently working in Melbourne, on one of the largest Road infrastructure projects in the southern hemisphere; the West Gate Tunnel Project. ​

Leadership

 
Peter WellingtonState member of Parliament (1976)
Peter is a former Maroochy Shire councillor who entered parliament in 1998, where became a successful state member for Nicklin from 1998 to 2017, and served as Speaker from 2015 to 2017.  He has assisted in improving government services such as transport, roads and infrastructure, health needs, community services, legislative change, education and general community need.

 

Sporting

 
Patrick RafterTennis Professional (1987)
Pat is an Australian former professional tennis player, who reached the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world No. 1 singles ranking on 26 July 1999. His career highlights include consecutive US Open titles in 1997 and 1998, consecutive runner-up appearances at Wimbledon in 2000 and 2001, winning the 1999 Australian Open men's doubles tournament alongside Jonas Björkman, and winning two singles and two doubles ATP Masters titles.
He became the first man in the Open Era to win Canada Masters, Cincinnati Masters and the US Open in the same year, which he achieved in 1998; this achievement has been dubbed the American Summer Slam. To date, only two players have followed this feat: Andy Roddick in 2003, and Rafael Nadal in 2013. 

One of NDSHS's Legends – Australian Softball Pitcher – Jocelyn Jeloudev (McCallum) has recently been inducted in the QLD Softball Hall of fame.

Jocelyn Jeloudev (McCallum) - Australian Softball Pitcher (1999)
Jocelyn is a QLD and Australian Softball Representative – Pitcher – QLD Player # 251 and Australian player # 226. Jocelyn has represented QLD since her U/15 selection in 1999 – 2015 and recently been inducted in the QLD Softball Hall of fame.
Jocelyn began her successful domestic and international career at Noosa Softball Fields. Jocelyn attended Cooroy State School and Noosa District SHS from 1997-99, before leaving to enter the Queensland Academy of sport in Brisbane for softball in 2000.
Softball has taken her worldwide, representing Australia (2002-16) playing in Asia, Europe and America. She was also named as a reserve for the 2008 Olympics.
Jocelyn received a college sponsorship at Troy State University in Alabama and made the All-American Team as pitcher.
Jocelyn played professionally in the Italian league, European World Cup for Austria, Russia and Ukraine.
In her 2014 and 2016 world championships journey she became an icon and inspiration for remote athletes as she trained on Mornington Island and Thursday Island in the Torres Strait.
Jocelyn has a highly decorated career including:

Jake Friend - Australian Rugby League (2007)
Jake is an indigenous Australian rugby league footballer who currently plays as a hooker and is the co-captain of the Sydney Roosters in the NRL.  Jake has played for Australia at international level. He has also played for the Prime Minister's XIII and the World All Stars.
Jake originally played for the Noosa Pirates before he joined the Roosters on a scholarship when he was 15. In 2008, he progressed from SG Ball Competition through to Toyota Cup to the NRL in just four months.

Rocky ElsomWallabies Rugby Union Captain (1997)
Elsom kicked off his Rugby Union World Cup campaign in New Zealand when the Wallabies defeated Italy at North Harbour Stadium. The Sunshine Coast might be an ocean away from Auckland, but it was at the Noosa Dolphins Rugby Union Club that Elsom took his first steps towards the upper echelon of the sport. Elsom went to school at Tewantin State School and Noosa District High School and spent most of his youth playing rugby league for the Noosa Pirates.  Rocky is one of Australia's most decorated players, having won Herald Super 14 player of the year in 2007, Wallaby of the year in 2008, European Player of the Year in 2009 and inducted into the European Cup Hall of Fame in 2010. He also holds the record for most tries by a Wallaby forward and is one of only a handful of Australians to win a Heineken Cup medal twice.

Michael Sage - Australian National Swimming Champion and Coach (1998)
Michael Sage just missed out on going to the Olympics as an athlete, stuck in an era boasting Kieran Perkins, Ian Thorpe and Grant Hackett. However, he now savours the experience as a coach. Sage is one of a trio of Sunshine Coasters who has been part of Australia's support network team for the Olympics. He started coaching when he was 21 and worked his way up through the ranks.
