Signature Programs

All enrolled students are automatically placed in a general class which teaches the Australian curriculum.  Students who are interested in our signature programs must apply using the application forms available on the right-side of this page by the due date and understand that a contract of expected behaviour and effort must be signed.​


SUMMIT CLASS

 

The Summit Class is aimed at highly motivated, academic students. These students will participate in a curriculum that is set at a level, pace and degree of complexity beyond the learning expectations of their same-age peers. Our vision for the Summit Class is to challenge and support students to pursue excellence and develop a passion for life-long learning. The program expands on the standard English, Science, Humanities and Mathematics curriculum in a way that challenges students academically and supports their development. The program is available to Year 7, 8 and 9 students. Students will learn the skills, tools and processes to help them develop solutions to problems through a project-based approach. The class composition is reviewed every year in line with expectations set out in the student
agreement.

THE ARTS / INNOVATION ACADEMY

The Arts / Innovation Academy students will develop their creative talents through opportunities within and beyond the core Arts and Technologies curriculum. This program will extend student’s critical and creative thinking skills through a program that let them be engaging 21st Century learners. The Arts / Innovation Academy will provide opportunities to further expand within:
- The Arts areas of: Media Arts; Visual Arts; Performing Arts - Music, Dance, and Drama.
- Technologies areas of: Digital Technologies; Design and Technologies; Food and Fibre Production.
The class composition is reviewed every year in line with expectations set out in the student agreement.

ATHLETE ACADEMY

The Athlete Academy is a class built on the Years 7–8 Australian Curriculum that supports the deepening of knowledge, understanding and skills in learning areas targeted at Health & Sport. This program tailors curriculum content to specific sporting areas where appropriate; such as Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics, Touch Football & Mountain Biking etc. Students involved in the Athlete Academy will be provided with first selection to participate within Interschool Sport Programs. It also aligns cross-curricular learning opportunities with high input from community organisations such as local businesses & sporting organisations. The curriculum continues to prepare students for civic, social and economic participation and personal health and well-being whilst providing increased opportunities for students to make choices and specialise in learning of particular areas of interest. This program incurs a $20 fee for excursions. The class composition is reviewed every year in line with expectations set out in the student agreement.

GENERAL

Noosa District State High School is committed to ensuring each child reaches their full potential. General classes teach the Australian curriculum in all learning areas with a focus on differentiated teaching and learning strategies to support the success of every student in their learning journey.
