At Noosa District SHS students have a number of avenues to access sporting competition throughout their school life.  This includes internal sporting competitions during the different carnivals as well as lunchtime activities that are offered based on student and staff interest. In addition to this the school also offers numerous inter-school competitions throughout the year for those students who wish to test themselves at a higher more competitive level.

At this level the school is organised around four houses, Cooroora, Eerwah, Pinbarren and  Tinbeerwah.  Students are put into one of these houses and then have the chance to compete in swimming, biathlon, cross country and athletics carnivals throughout the year.  These carnivals cater for a diverse range of abilities with novelty, participation and competitive events open to all interested and capable students.

At the next competitive level students can then go on to compete at district (against the local high schools), regional (involving all school on the sunshine coast) and state level in swimming, cross country and athletics. Multiple opportunities exist in other sports to also compete at the above three levels.  Students need to listen to notices for these chances and contact the relevant teacher organising this sport.  Some of these sports include rugby league, cricket, basketball, touch, soccer, volleyball, softball, golf and tennis. In addition to this students in years seven, eight and nine also have the chance to take part in the North District interschool sports competition. This is conducted in a different school term of the year for each year level and includes the sports of basketball, soccer, touch and volleyball.  Noosa District SHS has had a proud history in this competition recently winning it for eight years in a row.  Lastly students also have opportunities for interschool competition in sports like rugby league and cricket as they arise thourghout the year and these are often played after school.
