Year 12 student – Nina Burkardt flies high

Noosa District State High School Aerospace student Nina Burkardt will be competing in the Queensland Aerobatic State Titles at Watts Bridge Airfield in July this year. It has been a fast progression for Nina over the past six months.
After completing 90 hours of flight training at Gympie Recreational Flying Club over the school holidays, Nina achieved her recreational pilot's licence. Not content with just flying through the air, Nina progressed to aerobatic flight training and has recently graduated with her aerobatic license.
Nina usually flies the light weight and manoeuvrable Citabria planes which allows her to complete aerial manoeuvres such as the immelmann, the half cuban and a stall turn.  The immelmann involves flying the plane straight up into a loop and then rolling backwards out of a 45 degree dive from the top of a loop. When asked about how she feels when completing such manoeuvres, Nina responded, "I just love it!"
Nina will be competing in the graduate level division at the Queensland titles and we wish her the best of luck!
