On Friday the 23rd of November, 2018, a passionate group
of Year 9 and 10 Student Leaders represented our school at the first White
Ribbon Walk at Noosa. This walk along
Gympie Terrace was the first time that the Noosa Council had supported this
rally towards reducing domestic violence.
There were many local organisations on the walk including
ZONTA, Lions, Apex, church groups, etc.
Each organisation followed our local, state and national politians who
all marched to reduce the appalling statistics of ‘one woman lost per week’ due
to domestic violence.
Our students were great role models during their time on the
community stage. They marched behind
banners with their ‘white ribbons’ on their uniforms and asked many questions
along the way. I hope this awareness
campaign is spread by our youth as we all aim to eradicate this hidden problem
in our community and country.
I would like to thank the student leaders for giving up
their time this late in the year.
