Student Leadership Day

On Friday, 18 October, the budding student leader team of 2014 participated in a leadership development day. The morning consisted of abseiling, and for some this new experience proved quite challenging. With encouragement from the rest of the team the students were soon at the bottom of the cliff waiting for the others to descend. After a short break the team were back at it, as the amazing guys from Corporate FAME presented a new challenge, rock-climbing.
The climbs were steep and tough with few foot holes. Teams were established with a climber, belaier and rope manager. The climber took on the cliff, while the belaier heaved to help their team-mate make it to the top. Advice and encouragements were given until the climber accomplished the rock face.
Both the abseiling and rock climbing was a great experience that helped the future leaders build a stronger team spirit. We look forward to working with next year’s grade 8 – 12 cohorts and teachers to further improve an already exceptional educational institution with the leadership skills we have gained.
