PERFORMING ARTS MUSINGS

Calamity Jane Hitches a Ride on the Deadwood Stage.

Friday 07 June 2014 was Western Dress day, this not only saw students raising money to buy bales for our drought stricken farmers but also helped to promote this year’s school musical Calamity Jane.

Musical Mayhem continued well on into the afternoon for some of the leads involved in this year’s Musical along with a number of senior Film, Television and New Media students.

Along with some very dedicated Performing Arts Staff the cast and crew ventured out into a grassy paddock in Tewantin to Film a Green Screen scene to be used as the opening sequence for the musical. Although the sun eventually got the better of the film crew some great footage and publicity shots were collected, and we are excited to see how the filmed segment comes to fruition in the musical on opening night.

A big thank you goes to Lew Bennett for the loan of his beautifully restored wagon and the use of his property for filming. Also thanks goes to the Musical Leads Shea Ferrier as Calamity Jane, Daniel Nunns as Francis Fryer and Georgia Leslie as Rattlesnake. We would also like to thank the dedicated Film students Mitch Lougheed, Mat Chrystal and Jack Graham for volunteering their time for the shoot.

Don’t forget tickets for the public go on sale after the school holidays, so make sure you give the office a call to book your seats.
