Harmony Day

20/08/2013

Noosa District State High School is celebrating Harmony Day this Wednesday through a variety of activities including an international breakfast, ‘random acts of kindness’ and a uniform ‘add on’ day.

Students will celebrate and showcase difference through performances at parade; musicians Iron and Clay will play during the lunch break and the Chaplain’s breakfast at the Cooroy and Pomona Campuses will have an international flavour.

Cultural difference will be recognised through an uniform ‘add on’ day on Wednesday, where students accessorise their uniform with an item of clothing that illustrates their culture or heritage links such as a hat, scarf, badge, tie, belt and socks.

Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.

Students participating in Harmony Day activities, can learn and understand how all Australians from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and how they can enrich it.
