GOMA Excursion

On Wednesday, March 11, 85 students and 4 staff visited GOMA (the Gallery of Modern Art), and QAG (the QLD Art Gallery). Students spent the day viewing a diverse range of exhibitions across both the galleries. The excursion allows students to view a wide variety of both traditional and contemporary art works, by a very extensive range of artists, some world famous, some newly emerging.

Students take photos and collect information relevant to the different areas they are currently working in. It is a day of inspiration and also a day of acquisition, experiencing Art Galleries, which is a valuable life skill.

Visual Art Studies students focused on production techniques and the quality regarding standards of artworks and also the products that were found in the Gallery stores. Fashion students were inspired by the colour, form and texture of the artworks on display and recorded this information so they can apply it to their design folios. The accessories in the Gallery stores were of great interest as the Fashion students are producing their own accessories in the near future.
