Celebration of Excellence 2017

Each year, we celebrate excellence in our school, with a spectacular night that acknowledges and celebrates the success of our students in their learning endeavours featuring the presentation of reflective speeches, certificates, medallions, trophies and some gift vouchers.  Last Wednesday, we were treated to an extensive ‘parade’ that featured over 300 very talented students from Noosa District whose achievements in Academic, Cultural, Civic and Sporting endeavours were acknowledged and celebrated.  It was a credit to our community that our young people have shown such dedication and resultant excellence in the many and varied learning areas in our school.  On this note, we were fortunate enough to  share our event with invited guests including executive members of our feeder primary schools, our close sponsors with whom we have developed close relationships with, our special guest and ex-student Steven Rooke, and most importantly, the families who have supported students through what has been a robust and at times, frenetic year.

As the event opened with some fantastic music from Jamison Khel and our Concert Band, it was clear from the onset that this was going to be a special night.  Following on, and as is tradition, we held a badge ceremony to acknowledge and thank the 2017 School Leaders whilst welcoming and celebrating the future Senior Leaders of 2018.  The 2017 school leaders conducted themselves with professionalism, presenting detailed reports of the events that have occurred in our school across our 4 key areas.  If you were one of the 1000 people present, you will no doubt agree that 2017 has been an outstanding year to be proud of. The 2018 School and Vice Captains were also a credit to themselves as they officially ‘took up duty’ and led the night seemlessly from beginning to end.
The highlight, of course, was being present to watch the 300 students who received awards with big smiles on their faces walk across the stage; a testiment to the fact that they were all very proud and deserving of their achievements. I commend all students for their successes, and for their professional conduct throughout the ceremony.
I would also like to acknolwedge both the Senior Dancers choreographed by Ms Sharon Harris and the Vocal Group led by Ms Care Hopper as both entertainment items were exceptional and showcased once again, the dedication our students have.  A large thank you to the production and technical crew and Mr Gorman who produced the night without a hitch.  Overall, Celebration of Excellence 2017 is night we won’t forget and my thanks go the numerous other staff members and students who contributed their time and efforts to making it the successful event it was.
