Cate Macmillan

I began as Principal of Noosa District SHS in July 2003. Four years on I can proudly talk about the achievements of students in academic, cultural, vocational, sporting and community pursuits. Our school requires students to engage in a range of activities that will provide opportunities to develop skills as life long learners for our global society. The expectation that NDSHS students will be active responsible citizens ensures that there is always plenty happening.

High quality teachers set high expectations in a range of subjects. All Key Learning Areas (English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Science and the Environment, Languages other than English, The Arts, Technology and Health & Physical Education) are delivered in Years 8 & 9 at both the Pomona and Cooroy Campuses and the Senior Phase of learning (Yrs 10-12) at the Cooroy Campus. Specialty facilities for agriculture, marine sciences, performing arts, hospitality and industrial technology are located on the Cooroy campus.

Participation in musicals, cattle shows, Youth Parliament, United Nations, Formula 1 model car innovation, public speaking, trainee & apprenticeships, regional, state and national sporting events, leadership opportunities, Australian Business Week, career & work education, house-based pastoral care, radio, instrumental music is what we offer.

Good relationships are the key to the success of any organisation and at NDSHS we endeavour to communicate with all stakeholders on a regular basis. Parents & Citizens meet on a monthly basis, a group of students, staff, parents and community representatives meet monthly as the School Council. Student Council meets monthly to discuss issues that directly affect the students.

Informed parents are a crucial part of their children’s learning. Communication with the school is encouraged on a number of levels.

I sincerely hope that everyone’s interactions with Noosa District SHS are positive and rewarding.
