Mission Statement

"To provide a safe, harmonious environment which enables students to become lifelong learners and active responsible citizens"

Pomona Campus

Our Philosophy

All members of the school community have the right to be treated fairly and with respect. All members share the responsibility to see that this is upheld. The goal of our Behaviour Support Policy is to encourage all individuals to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and for ensuring that the rights of others are maintained.

History

Noosa District State High School consists of two campuses. The Cooroy Campus is in the township of Cooroy and the Pomona Campus in Pomona and was formerly known as Cooroora Secondary College from 1996 to 2006. From 1945 to 1996 it was a secondary department of Pomona State School. Pomona Campus is a Middle School for Years 8 and 9. The Coorora Secondary College was integrated with the Noosa District State High School at the beginning of 2007. The integration has been a success with ongoing work to fine tune courses offered and management across the two campuses.

Facilities

The campus was built in 1996/97 to the latest designs, with specialist facilities for Science, Agricultural Science, Industrial Technology, Life Technology, Performing Arts, Art and Information, Communication & Technology.

Buildings are modern, tidy and are in a structured format. Covered walkways, shade structures, courtyards, oval, multi-purpose courts, kiln and a huge agricultural plot are set in spacious picturesque surroundings with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.

Behaviour

The NDSHS Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students is the means by which we ensure that this supportive school environment is established and maintained at both sites. Expectations and responsibilities are consistent at both campuses. Students have access to support from Guidance Officers, Advisory Visiting Behaviour teachers, school nurse and school chaplain as well as a house based pastoral care system. As one school – two campuses this will be consistent for students through to Year 12.
