Sian helping out with the Mobile Muster
|
Students at Noosa District State High School have considered the environmental ramifications of mobile phones. Year 12 student, Sian Gadd, has been helping with the Mobile Muster. The environment group has been collecting old mobile phones and associated equipment for a recycling program. Thank you to all those who donated old items to aid in this recycling initiative. |

Students involved in music at NDSHS have been busy this semester with various performances. The Sunshine Coast District Eisteddfod in August this year will witness performances by the school choir and instrumental bands and ensembles.
CHOIR The choir is preparing for the Eisteddfod practicing each Monday and Tuesday lunchtime in the music room. All are welcome!
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC NEEDS YOU The Concert Band rehearses every Thursday morning with the Stage Band every Friday. The strings teacher, Mr Peter Eggers, teaches a small group of keen players each Monday morning. We have room for more in our programs!! The following instruments are currently available and Mr Bruce Barnett is willing to start up a beginners class if the interest is there. Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Euphonium and Trombone are all available for students to borrow from the school. (A small admin fee is applicable to cover the costs of servicing the instruments each year). If there are students in the school that have an instrument hiding in the cupboard that would like to start up lessons again they are urged to come and chat with Mr Barnett or Mr Eggers regarding this. |

Adam Levy, left and Mark Stocker on right proudly showing their winning creations

All year 10 ITA students from the Coorory Campus and a small contingent of year 9 Students from the Cooroora Campus were present in the school hall to watch the knockout competition where the large field of model cars were gradually eliminated to a final group of four cars which were raced best of three to find the overall winner. Adam Levy took line honours with Mark Stocker a close runner up in the final round of racing. Third and fourth place were taken by Dana Anderson and Jarrod Etherington respectively. Interestingly, when the results are analysed by ranking the cars by the fastest single time completed during all races the results are exactly the same. Adam’s car ran a blistering 1.004 seconds with Mark Stocker running a 1.040, Dana Anderson at 1.071 and Jarrod Etherington at 1.080 seconds.
When ranked by fastest average time on all races the order was exactly the same again. This is unusual in the world of CO2 dragster competition since some cars can post one fluke, fast run but not make it through the knockout racing. |
